Requirements Checklist

- Valid Jamaican passport
- DS-2019 form issued by your sponsoring organisation
- SEVIS fee payment receipt
- Recent passport-sized photograph
- Proof of financial support
- Programme acceptance letter from sponsoring organisation
- Academic or professional qualifications relevant to the programme
- Evidence of ties to Jamaica

Some J-1 visa holders are subject to a two-year home-country physical presence requirement before they can change status or obtain certain immigrant visas.
