Requirements Checklist
These are general requirements, and every application is different. Some documents may not be required, while additional documents may be recommended based on your individual circumstances. During your appointment, we'll review your application and guide you on the documents needed to help strengthen your application.
- Valid Jamaican passport
- Form I-797 approval notice from the relevant US authority (petition approved by employer)
- Recent passport-sized photograph
- University degree or equivalent in the specialty field
- Employment offer letter from US employer
- Evidence of specialty occupation qualifications
- Professional licences or certifications (if applicable)
- Proof of employer's ability to pay the prevailing wage
Important Note
The H-1B is employer-sponsored. Your US employer must file a petition with the relevant authority and receive approval before you can apply for the visa at the embassy.
