Requirements Checklist
These are general requirements, and every application is different. Some documents may not be required, while additional documents may be recommended based on your individual circumstances. During your appointment, we'll review your application and guide you on the documents needed to help strengthen your application.
- Valid Jamaican passport for the child
- Child's full birth certificate showing both parents' names
- Proof that the sponsoring parent is settled in the UK or a British citizen (BRP, passport, or ILR)
- Proof of sole responsibility or access rights if only one parent is in the UK
- Written consent from the other parent (or evidence of sole responsibility)
- Proof of adequate accommodation in the UK
- Sponsor's financial evidence meeting the minimum income threshold
- Tuberculosis (TB) test certificate (if child is aged 11 or over)
- Recent passport-sized photographs of the child
Important Note
Both parents must consent to the child's relocation unless one parent has sole responsibility. If the child is 16 or 17, additional evidence may be required to show they are not leading an independent life. Children granted this visa can apply for ILR after 5 years of continuous lawful residence.
